I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway and I am so excited to say that I truly enjoyed it. In Five Years follows Dannie, an aspiring lawyer who has her whole life planned out, but after a glimpse of her future she begins to question her plans. I do agree with the fact that this book is wrongly advertised, however that mistake did not affect me personally. Like I said in this book we follow Dannie and we follow some side characters but specifically we follow Dannie´s best friend Bella. In Five Years is a book about friendship, not love, and I adore the friendship between Dannie and Bella. This book is all about whether you live life in the moment, and whether you truly love people in that current moment of your life or you are just “in love” because it is convenient. The writing is great and it really moves the story along, so much that I was able to finish it in one day. The New York setting is incredibly described and you feel like you are there following Dannie. My only issues with the book were very little. I agree that her romance with Aaron at the end does not make any sense, it came out of nowhere and lead to nowhere. Moreover, I would have loved to see more of the family aspect, we get a glimpse of Dannie´s family and the tragedy that hit them but I would have liked to see it further explored. To see what it actually meant. Overall it was a fast cute read, I adored the friendship aspect of the book because for me my friends are the most important thing, however I was not a huge fan of the romance aspect of this book. It was a great example of how we sometimes stay in a relationship because we think it is what we need however the new fling felt a little unnecessary for me. P.S: I would love to see a book following Dannie and her romance with the doctor.
