“But if you love someone, you have to trust them”

Lately I have been very much into reading fun, easy, fluffy contemporary books that could just take my mind off of things. I picked RomeAntically Challenged looking for a book like this and I ended up reading one of my favorite romance novels.
In RomeAntically Challenged we follow Annie, who has always felt out of place and after her fiancé dumps her she decides to move to Rome, Rhode Island to start fresh. We also follow Emmitt, who is home on medical leave after covering a literally explosive story in China, Emmitt embarks on his most important assignment—cementing his place in his daughter’s life. Annie and Emmitt are about to discover love comes in many forms, and sometimes the best families are the ones we make.
I didn’t know what to expect from this book, I knew it was a romance novel but it turns out it is so much more than that. This book explores themes such as family, acceptance, hard work and forgiveness. I was truly blown away by how the author managed to incorporate all of these impactful themes in such a lovely story.
In my opinion RomeAntically Challenged has all the components of an epic rom-com. This book will make you laugh out laugh (literally) it will make you cry and it will definitely will make you want to go see your family. A great love story that is highly emotional, enjoyable, and entertaining.
The characters are excellent. Annie, for me, is so relatable specifically talking about her career path and I also believe she is a great representation of what it is like to not fit in completely. Emmitt stole my heart, seeing how hard he tried to form a healthy loving relationship with her daughter filled my heart and also he made me laugh throughout the whole book. The secondary characters were also fantastic, I loved the family dynamics and loved to see the 3 dad thing they had going on.
Overall this is an outstanding romance novel that not only deals with romance but with topics much more profound and I highly encourage everyone to pick it up.
