Wonder by R.J Palacio
5 stars
Wonder is one of my favorite movies of all time so when I found the book I knew I had to read it right away. For me Wonder became one of my favorite and most important books of all. It is a beautiful book about love, friendship and what it means to be different.
In Wonder we follow Auggie Pullman who was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face.
I believe Wonder is a book everyone should read, especially kids, I believe Wonder has some great things everyone can learn from, especially, this book teaches us the importance of being kind no matter what. Although this book it technically written for children I am so happy I read it non the less, this book made me cry, laugh, it made me furious on some parts and it made me extremely happy on others. Wonder offers a new perspective on bullying and the topic was handled beautifully.
The writing in this book is simple yet beautiful, because this book is written for a younger audience the writing style wasn’t complex but for this story it worked marvelously. The book is told in different perspectives and I think it was a great choice from the author, although I loved some perspectives more than others I think it was amazing to see different scenarios from different points of view.
Overall, Wonder is one of the best books I have read in a really long time and I believe it is a must read for every kid and every adult. I loved my reading experience, I cried, I laughed and I was overall blown away by this book. I will without a doubt be thinking about this book for a really long time and I will definitely re-read it at some point in my life.
