I recently created a profile in BookSirens and one of the first book I was drawn to was this one. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
In this book we follow Lacey Graham, who after experiencing a heartbreak, moves to San Francisco to a new job and new opportunities. San Francisco Love is an interracial romance with a guaranteed happily ever after.
I liked the main character, she is a strong female character and I was happy she was represented in the book and I really liked the love interest, he was sweet and ambitious and I thought he was a strong secondary character. Overall was very intrigued why the premise of the book, I read it really quickly and I did really enjoy it, however there were a few things I was no 100% on board with.
For example, one of my main complaints was that there was a cliff hanger, this book is not marked as a series (one of the main reasons I requested it) and then in the end you get a cliff hanger that means that there will be another book. However, all of this said, I will read the next book in the series, I really want to know what happens and I think this book was a great way to set the tone of the series. I really believe the author has a lot of potential and I want to see what she can do next.
This book was a little unrealistic, the amount of time it took the couple to go from one point in their relationship to the other was ridiculously fast. No way I am going to believe that you meet, he was with another woman, you get together for 2 months and you get married. Yeah Right. I wanted to know more about the relationship, I wanted to know if she fell in love or if she just settled, I wanted to know what they were feeling like, I wanted to see them flirt I wanted to fall in love with them.
My final point was the writing, I was not very into de writing at all, it seemed “unprofessional” and the amount of times it said sista or brotha was insane. The slang was a bit too much to read, it was used so much that it started to be too much.
In the end I think this book had great potential but I wanted more, I wanted more of the story, I wanted to read about things in detail that were only mentioned and I wanted to fall in love alongside the characters. This book is good, and I am so happy I have read it, I will definitely read the next installment of the series.
Thanks to the publisher, author and BookSirens for letting me read and review this book.
