I THINK I JUST FOUND A NEW FAVORITE YA CONTEMPORARY BOOK!!
I recently downloaded Scribd because I wanted to see if audiobooks worked for me. I decided to start with the audiobook of this book and let’s just say that this book made me want to listen to audiobooks all the time. This book is fun and lighthearted and will definitely bring a smile to your face.
In this book we follow Sophie who is looking forward to spending Christmas break with her boyfriend. However Sophie´s plan goes terrible wrong after her boyfriend decides to break up with her because she is no longer any fun. Devastated she goes to her grandparents’ house were her grandmother decides to set her up on 10 blind dates in order to cheer her up.
First of all I have to say that the family dynamics are crazy and perfectly represented I come from a big family like Sophie so to see them done so well was very exciting. I loved this book. I really enjoyed watching Sophie go through all the dates, some less awkward than others but all equally as fun. This book is greatly written and has amazing character development as this book is not only about love, but is also about family and friendship.
This book had so many positive things about it, you had the light and fluffy date shenanigans but you also had important family issues that contrast the fluffy subjects with more serious ones. Another positive things for me is that you know who the love interest is going to be really early in the story. I love when books make it obvious who the love interest is going to be, that way you have more time to ship their relationship and fall in love with them. And even though you know who the love interest is going to be, it is slow burn and you spent half the book just going “get together already”.
I would totally recommend this book, it is the perfect Christmas read that will just leave you feeling all the things and get you pump for the holidays. It has been weeks and I still think about this book on a regular basis and I will most like it re-read it when the holidays are near.
So my advice is: stop whatever you are doing and go get yourself a copy of this book.
