Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All of the opinions are my own and this did not affect my review in any way.

“And loving someone means carrying around their hurt, too”

This book received so much hype this year and when I received a free copy for review I was thrilled to finally get the chance to see what everyone was talking about. Overall, not only did I get why people are obsessed with this book but this novel not only achieved my expectations, it surpassed them.

In this book we follow Dev, who has always believed in fairy tales. We also follow, Charlie, who doesn’t believe in true love. The Charm Offensive is Dev and Charlie’s fairy tale, somewhat like The Bachelor, with a reality show backdrop called Ever After.

I was obsessed with this book, I am not a huge fan of reality tv shows but in this book it worked perfectly. It was fun the see all the “behind the scenes” and what reality tv shows are all about. And even though the reality tv show aspect of this book is all fluffy and sweet I really appreciated that this novel talked about more serious issues such as mental health, it gave the book depth and it made it more real.

The characters are great, by far my favorite character is Charlie, he is so sweet and caring and I just wanted him to be okay. I love how we get to see Charlie´s growth and follow him in his journey of self-discovery. He truly was a gem to read about. Dev was also a great main character, even if he sometimes got on my nerves, I understood where he was coming from and I still really enjoyed him. However, the real MVP of the book were the secondary characters, specifically the other Ever After producers and Charlie´s best friend.

The writing style is simple and sweet, the book does drag a little in the middle but I was so into the story I really didn’t care. This is such a cute romance novel and it gave me so much joy while reading it. This was such an outstanding debut novel from the author and I can’t wait to check out what they publish next.

“Love that changes you, love that conquers all. Everyone talks about that kind of love, so it must be real, right?”
