I first heard about this book on booktube and I really liked the idea but I was aware that with book dealing with this type of subjects it was either going to be a hit or a miss with me and I am excited to say that it was definitely a hit.
In this book we follow Olive as one day an anonymous person drops a package at her apartment with exactly the amount of money she needs in order to pay for her student loans. Olive doesn’t know who sent the money or what they want in return.
The concept of the book is not new, but I liked the execution. The characters are enjoyable and relatable and the plot had a few twists which made it fast paced. I was intrigued the whole time to be honest, I wanted to know what happened to Olive´s mom, to Sydney and specially how it was going to unravel between Olive and her mysterious benefactor.
I am definitely continuing on with the series. I agree that this was way to short and that nothing exiting really happens BUT there are still many more books in the series so I do want to find out what happens eventually. There are so many little things with this book that keep you engaged and once you realize it you are up at 3 am trying to finish this book.
Overall, this is a solid novel that is great when you want to get out of a reading slump or just want to read something easy an entertaining. Some parts of the book were a little unbelievable, however that did not affect my enjoyment of the book. If you are interested in the book I would definitely give it a chance.
p.s. I don’t know how I fell about Charlotte Byrd being her main character's favorite writer. I laughed but at the same time I cringe.
