Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All of the opinions are my own and this did not affect my review in any way.
Since I discover my love for thriller and suspense books I have been trying to find my favorite thriller of all time. I received an ARC of this book and I knew I had to read it right away. Even though this book did not become my favorite thriller of all time I was still pleasantly blown away by this book.
Set against the backdrop of an eerie island town in the dead of winter, The Wife and The Widow is an unsettling thriller told from two perspectives: Kate, a widow whose grief is compounded by what she learns about her dead husband’s secret life; and Abby, an island local whose world is turned upside when she’s forced to confront the evidence of her husband’s guilt.
This was such a thrilling and mind blowing book, the story grabbed me from the very begging and I read this book fairly quickly because I just needed to know what was going on. The author manages to write in a way that you have no idea what is happening but at the same time giving you just enough so that you keep going.
This is an excellent thriller, the only reason I took one star was because the plot twist was a little confusing. When the big thing is reveled I was so confused I had to go back and read it multiple times until I understood what was actually happening. However, was I got what the author was trying to do I was pleasantly surprised.
The pacing of the book is excellent, the writing still is witty and you can perfectly see yourself next to the characters, the ambiance is creepy and the characters are very well written. None of the character are likeable or relatable but in this type of book, it worked.
Overall, this is an extraordinary thriller that had me hooked since page one and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
I like the cover of the book too! The colours are so pretty! It's a shame this book was a bit confusing but it still sounds like an overall interesting premise. Thanks for the review!
