Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All of the opinions are my own and this did not affect my review in any way.
Psychological thriller is one of my favorite genres but I still don’t read enough of them and after finishing this book I intend on changing that because oh boy did I love this book.
In The Good Sister we follow Rose, the responsible sister with a home and a desire to be a mother, and Fern, the introverted librarian who avoids social interaction. They are as close as two sisters can be. But they couldn’t be more different. What are they hiding from each other?
I had absolutely no idea what to except from this book, the description was vague and I haven’t heard anyone talk about it. However I am glad that I had no idea what this was about when I started reading because it made it so much more impactful. The writing style is absolutely outstanding, it is creepy and atmospherically and it truly made you uncomfortable in a good way.
The characters are amazing, you relate to them and by the end you end up caring for them and wanting them to be okay. My favorite character is by far Fern, she intrigued me so much and I wanted to know what was going on in her mind. Rose was also very well developed and throughout the book you get to see things in her perspective.
This book captivated me from the start, I couldn’t stop reading and I ended up finishing the book at 3 am not knowing what to do with my life anymore. It is impossible not to get emotionally invested and it will definitely give you chills. The pacing is twisted, breathtaking and intense, you can’t help but feel uncomfortable at the situation and when the plot twist is unraveled I guarantee it will take your breath away.
Overall this is a suspenseful and dramatic book about lies, manipulation and the bond between two sisters. I can’t recommend this book enough and if you are interested in psychological thrillers and haven’t picked this one up I don’t know what you are waiting for.
