Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All of the opinions are my own and this did not affect my review in any way.
This book was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020 and I’m very happy to say that even though it didn’t surpass my expectations I still really enjoyed reading this book.
In The Guest List we follow a wedding that is taking place on an island off the coast of Ireland. Everyone is there, the bride, the plus one, the best man, the wedding planner and the body.
I had a lot of fun reading this book, this is a classic who-dunnit mystery that will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.
This is the first book I had read by this author and it definitely won’t be the last. The plot is intricate, the atmosphere is spooky and the characters are very well developed. I found this book to be impossible to put down.
My only complaint about the book is in the way it was paced, let me explain. I like my mystery/ thrillers to follow a certain kind of outline, it like when you first see who was murder and then you try to solve who did it based on motive and so on. In this book you only know that someone was killed but you have no idea who the victim is until the end of the book, so in my opinion it is hard to try to find out who did it because you have no idea who died.
Aside from my pacing complaint everything else about the book was outstanding. Like I said the characters are very well developed, the plots twist are realistic but you still don’t see them coming and overall the atmosphere and the tone of the book just make you want to keep reading.
Overall this is definitely one of the best mystery / thrillers I have read in a long time and I can’t wait to see what the author publishes next.
